La Paz Bolivia — Mi Teleférico cable cars, Illimani mountain and China export EVs — JCHCAR Bolivia via Chile

Leg 1 — What JCHCAR delivers

China export docs (CI, PL, CO, B/L, VIN), RORO or 40HQ booking (EV/PHEV on Class 9 DG), and discharge at Arica, Iquique, or San Antonio per PI. Ocean freight ends at the agreed Chilean port — inland Bolivia is not included.

Leg 2 — Chile → Bolivia customs transit (your agent)

After discharge, cargo typically moves under customs transit under the Chile–Bolivia free-transit framework (1904 Treaty) and ATIT. Key road document: MIC/DTA. Your international carrier/agency registers it; Bolivia’s Aduana Nacional uses SUMA and maintains exterior agencies (e.g. Arica).

Typical leg-2 flow

1) Discharge / depot pickup in Chile. 2) MIC/DTA preparation and numbering. 3) Move to border (common corridors: Tambo Quemado–Chungará, Pisiga–Colchane — confirm current hours/controls with your agent). 4) Arrival control at Bolivian destination customs. 5) Nationalization (duties) and local registration (e.g. RUAT where applicable). JCHCAR does not issue MIC/DTA or book Bolivian inland haulage.

Bolivian importer checklist

• Licensed Bolivian broker + ATIT-authorized carrier. • Confirm vehicle eligibility (model year / restrictions) with Aduana Nacional before purchase. • Align B/L consignee wording for Bolivia transit. • Separate budget: inland freight, Chile storage, insurance, Bolivian duties. • EVs: confirm DG rules for the inland leg with your agent.

Ports and Peru alternative

Preferred JCHCAR ports: Arica, Iquique, San Antonio. Alternative: Matarani/Ilo (Peru). In all cases leg 2 remains importer-owned.

Why dealers still buy with confidence

Fear of “stuck in Chile” is common — and the market standard is this split of responsibility. With a clear PI and a named Bolivian agent before sailing, transit is routine procedure, not a JCHCAR service gap.
